Thieves Essential Oil vs. Candles

I have a very sensitive nose, bad smells make me gag, so I have always had an addiction to candles.  When people ask what I collect I would say candles.  I loved the relaxing glow and crackle of a candle.  A safe go to gift for me was candles…. You get the point, I LOVED CANDLES!

Recently I started reading and learning more about the toxins that are in candles, room fresheners, and even yes…Scentsy.  For a while I just wanted to pretend that I had never read it and keep using my burner that I loved so much, but my family struggles with allergies and respiratory issues so…they had to go.  I know, I know I rolled my eyes too and I’m very sorry to be such a party pooper, but you can google toxins in candles and come to your own conclusion.

I would like to try and redeem myself and offer you a healthy option.  Young Living Essential Oils!  These oils are safe and even beneficial for your family.  You can add them to a diffuser or add them to a spray bottle (Catherine gives a tutorial here).  Now you are making your house smell good and helping your family instead of hurting them.  Plus the oils actually kill bad odors instead of just covering them up.

my healthier journey…

I have struggled with sinus/allergies and headaches my whole life.  They both run in our family.  I do not like to take medicine.  It is not pleasant, it has side effects and it is not good for you.  It temporarily eases the issue, but It does its damage as well.  I try to drink tons of water and sleep when I get sick but that is not always an easy task when you have a job and three kids.

I had heard of Essential Oils on Pinterest and such but hadn’t given it a whole lot of thought.  Until this Summer when I had a headache at VBS and a friend told me to try some of her Young Living Peppermint Oil.

Within 30 minutes my headache was GONE!  This was huge for me.  I have taken Advil, Tylenol of all sort, Migraine medicine……and none of it has ever worked this fast.  Not only did my headache go away, it didn’t come back.  This alone was life changing enough that I had to do my research and buy my own oils.  Young Living has it’s own farms and is involved in the quality from seed to seal.

I found that buying the Young Living Starter kit

was the best deal for me to try different oils, get a diffuser

and I would be able to purchase all my oils at wholesale price.  When they came in I immediately put them to work.  My medicine cabinet changed a lot.

I had read testimonies of people using them for their allergies and wanted to try it on myself.bye zyrtec allergies

I have not had any sinus/allergy problems since using them.  When I wake up a little stuffy I increase my oils for the day.

I have recently switched to a Thieves Cleaner by Young Living

in place of all household cleaners.  It is effective, smells good and is very healthy for my family.  I am slowly trying to switch over to all natural personal products.

The Doc is in…

Have you seen the cute new show Doc McStuffins on Disney Junior?  Well if not you should drop by our house.  We love it!  Super cute and sweet!

The show inspired me to do Chloe’s 4th birthday party medical/Doc McStuffins theme.

I have a very talented friend Catherine at Everything Design that helped me do the invitations, water bottle wraps and cupcake toppers.

As Chloe’s friends arrived they received a Dr.’s coat (boys white undershirts-cut up the middle) and a hospital bracelet.  On the hospital bracelet I asked them their age and the weighed them.  It would have been fun to measure them as well, but they were ready to play.

They were then ready to diagnose some serious problems and help administer first aid.  The kids loved this and spent much longer doing this than I thought they would.

First Aid was fully equipped with a Dr’s kit, rubber gloves, popsicle sticks, blood pressure cuff, felt band-aids, guaze, etc. and the patients (stuffed animals).

After First Aid they could color and draw in their own Book of Boo-boo’s (mini composition notebooks).

Then the food!  Always my favorite.

Q-tips (pretzel sticks with marshmellows dipped in white chocolate)

Each child left with a Dr.’s kit, Dr.’s bag, felt band-aids, real band-aids, suckers, and stickers.

Easter 2012

Easter morning the kids woke up and came downstairs to see their baskets then we got ready for church.  After church my parents, brother, sister-in-law, and kids came over for lunch and egg hunt.  It rained all day so we had an indoor egg hunt, but it was so fun.  We missed Chance’s parents, Judy needed to go be with her dad in the hospital.

Launch Pad

God has formed a group of 6 women to share what God has done in our lives as an encouragment to other women.  It has been filled with so many God stories and amazing encouragement.  I hope that you will take a look at our website and will also fill encouraged.

I wanted to share my first article here on the Biblical Priority – Home

Morning Madness
“She keeps an eye on everyone in her house-hold, and keeps them all busy and productive”. Proverbs 31:27a The Message

Morning madness? Does this sound familiar? “Mommy! I can’t find my . . . !” getting the family out the door in the morning can make any parent want to stay in bed or hide.

I would like to introduce you to: the family launch pad. What is a launch pad? It’s a dedicated space for each family member: a single location to contain all the “out-the-door” essentials of life. Setting up a launch pad can be as simple as clearing a shelf in a bookcase and designating the area the family’s launch pad.

The launch pad is home to permission slips, lunch boxes, homework, library books and science fair projects. For the household’s “big kids”, the launch pad holds handbags, car keys, return videos, dry cleaning and the day’s ration of slim-fast. One place. One special place to corral items every family member must have to leave the house each morning It isn’t likely that this will totally cure the “morning madness,” but the launch pad can ease the symptoms.
